Medical disclaimer
The limits of what a website can do.
Information, not advice
Everything published here is general health education about endocrine and metabolic conditions. It is written for a broad audience and cannot take account of your age, your other illnesses, your medicines, your pregnancy or your test results. It is not a diagnosis and it is not a treatment plan.
Do not self-treat
Never start, stop or change the dose of any medicine — insulin and thyroid hormone especially — on the basis of something you have read on this or any other website. Doses in endocrinology are individual, and a change that is right for one patient can be dangerous for another.
No doctor–patient relationship
Reading this website, filling in the appointment form or sending an enquiry does not by itself create a doctor–patient relationship. That begins at a consultation.
In an emergency
Do not use this website. Symptoms such as a very high or very low blood sugar, confusion, drowsiness, chest pain, breathlessness or a diabetic foot infection with fever need same-day attention. Go to your nearest hospital emergency department or call 108.
